Week 5 Recap
By Hubert
As the NFL loses its last unbeaten team in Week 5 with the Chiefs (!) going down, so too do all 3 of our leagues each lose their last undefeated team.
Markinson
The top of the table clash featuring Dean and Russ had Dean going into Monday night needing a vintage LT performance to maintain his perfect record. While he looked good putting in a respectable performance, LT couldn't punch in a score, leaving Dean 7 pts short. The result puts them tied atop the standing at 4-1, with Dean holding a healthy 60 pt advantage in points scored.
I snap a 2 game losing streak with a 20 pt victory over Drew to move into sole possession of 3rd place at 3-2 despite being 6th in pts scored.
The pts leader is Andrew, who headlines a clump of 4 teams at 2-3 with a 24 pt win over Jeremy, who is next team in the group some 30 pts back.
The last two at 2-3 are Nalu and Chang by virtue of Nalu's Heineken performance, riding the strength of Forte, Ray Rice, and Miles Austin to a 130-76 victory.
Montoya
Jeremy took matters into his own hands in another top of the table clash, securing the Heineken and handing Chang his first loss. In the process, he leapfrogs Chang for the Starling lead by 10 pts with 652 total to also nudge ahead on pts with both teams at 4-1.
Lisa inches up a spot into 3rd place at 3-2 with a 26 pt victory over me. My freefall continues as I score the fewest pts by far again this week and remain entrenched in the basement at 1-4.
Dan also moves up a spot tied with Lisa at 3-2 with 123-112 victory over Andrew, who also joins me at 1-4, but with a healthy pts advantage. From top 2 to bottom 2, it's looking like a longshot for both of us to stay in Markinson.
Gina and Scott faced off this week, with Scott emerging the victor by 12 pts, leaving both teams at 2-3. Despite the monster NYJ D MNF performance, Gina would've come out just barely ahead if she had started Felix Jones instead of the gimped Pierre Thomas. Hope the Europe trip was worth it ;)
Dufresne
Needing just 5 pts from the Min D on a rainsoaked MNF contest to maintain his undefeated start, Jason falls short as Mark Sanchez inexplicably continues to look like a real NFL QB, yielding only 2 pts to Min to allow Amer to emerge victorious by 3 pts. With the win, Amer joins a crowded 5-way tie for 2nd at 3-2, but at the back of the pack on pts.
Given a chance to move back into a 1st place tie, Dean instead has to settle for leading the pack at 3-2 with a 40 pt defeat at the hands of Nalu. Having Peyton, Boldin, and Lance Moore in both Markinson and Dufresne certainly didn't make things easy for Dean. Nalu remains in the mix at 3-2 with the vicotry.
Russ keeps his hold on 3rd place with a 70 pt victory over Eddy, taking the Heineken along the way.
Steve maintains his position in 4th, surviving the onslaught of the NYJ D to squeak past Drew by 2 pts.
