Midseason Update
Everyone's played everyone once, so let's see where things stand.
Markinson
The field has narrowed to 6, as Amer and Drew are pretty much done despite averaging 113 and 103 ppg. Amer has been especially unlucky, essentially playing the equivalent of Jason's team every single week. In his 6 losses, his opponents scored 118, 182, 128, 125, 125, and 125. Amer and Drew's week-10 matchup will likely decide who gets to draft Luck next year.
Jason is now slightly behind pace to catch Dean's record 1,794.42 points in 2007, but he still has a 50-point lead over Andrew and me for 1st place. Hubert and Dean are just a game back, and Jeremy is lurking in 6th, still an outside threat.
Jason has scored 4 of the first 7 Heinekens, and just 1 more would tie Amer's record of 5 in 2008.
Montoya
Dan is still leading the way, but after a poor week 7, his lead is down to a mere 20 points ahead of me and Lisa, and his pursuit of Scott's record 2059 points in 2006 is toast.
The battle for Markinson is going to be fierce down the stretch, with 5 teams carrying winning records into the second half. As it stands now, Hubert is on the outside looking in ... didn't I write the same thing last season?
Dufresne
Inconceivable! Newbie Vineet has the only team in any of the leagues to notch 6 wins in the first half. That puts him a game up on Nalu and Steve, with Amer in 4th, meaning the 4 original members of Dufresne currently occupy the bottom half of the standings. I think everyone misses beating up on Eddy.
If Vineet can match his first half, he'll break the record 11 wins in a season shared by 3 managers. And Nalu is on pace to break Jason's record 1,808.74 points in 2007.
Starling
Dan leads Nalu by just 17 points, with me another 3 back, and Lisa 7 points further behind. Vineet rounds out the top 5. We still have yet to see a Starling Cup winner who doesn't also win his league's championship.
Misc
I am on pace to break Jason's record 3,478.98 total points in 2007, barely. With 10 total wins so far, I also have a shot at matching Dean's 22 total wins (including playoffs) in 2007. Amazing the seasons Jason and Dean had in both leagues that year, and neither won a single trophy. Hopefully I don't match that feat.
At this point, it's looking like the 3 managers who have never qualified for Markinson (Dan, Steve, Vineet) will all be playing for the big trophy next season (consider yourselves jinxed, bitches).
Good luck in the second half, all. Still a long way to go!
