Halfway Point - Single Season Records

Total Wins: 22 - Pansies (2007)

Dean and I both have 10 wins, and Russell has 9. This record includes the playoffs (the only one to do so), so if we match our first half results, a winning League Cup run could put one of us over the top.

Total Points: 3478.98 - Texas All Stars (2007)

This is a tough record to top. It does not include the playoffs, so Jason averaged 1740 points per league that year. Amazingly he did not win either league. He didn't even finish top 2 (3rd in both)! Dean is in first place in both leagues and is still only on pace for 3382.80 points. So despite two great first halves, he'll have to pick up the pace a little to catch Jason's mark.

Total Heinekens: 10 - Fantasia Orins (2006)

What makes this record so incredible is that Scott did it without the benefit of a Markinson league that season, and no one has come close since, even while double dipping. And the second best effort ever is 9 by Dean that same season! So far this year Dean has 6, I have 5, and Jeremy has 4. This record may be going down.

Markinson Wins: 11 - FC Hang (2007), Darby United (2009)

Dean and Russ have 5 wins apiece. C'mon parity!

Markinson Points: 1794.42 - Pansies (2007)

Dean set this mark in a losing cause, racking up the points behind the absurd Brady/Moss combo and LT in his prime. How did he not win the league that year? Oh yeah, I got ridiculously lucky. Andrew is the points leader at the halfway mark (naturally sitting in 5th place), but he is only on pace for 1645.88 points. This one looks safe.

Markinson Heinekens: 5 - Amer United (2008)

Things are pretty splintered, with Dean and I each winning 2 and Andrew, Jeremy, and Nalu notching 1 apiece, but this one is still very reachable.

Montoya Wins: 13 - Fantasia Orins (2006)

I would have to go 7-0 in the second half just to match this. Scott has the champagne on ice.

Montoya Points: 2059.00 - Fantasia Orins (2006)

One of Scott's many unbreakable records, though this one may be the silliest. I am on pace for a measly 1803.92 points.

Montoya Heinekens: 10 - Fantasia Orins (2006)

Okay, maybe this is the silliest. Jer and I each have 3, so if either of us sweeps the remaining Heinekens, that person will simply tie Scott's standard. Not gonna happen.

Dufresne Wins: 11 - Pansies (2006), Amer United (2007), Dunkel Weizen (2008)

First of all, what is Eddy doing there? No one has been able to top the 11 win mark, and no one is on pace to do it this season, with Dean and Jason sitting on 5 apiece. One of them would have to run the table to clear the logjam; 6-1 would just add to it.

Dufresne Points: 1808.74 - Texas All Stars (2007)

Another record posted in a losing effort, which is not so egregious considering league champ Amer was fewer than 20 points back, but what is egregious is that it only resulted in 8 wins! Dean is seriously threatening this one, on pace for 1813.52, just enough to set a new mark. Jason is on pace for 1739.52 himself, so he could factor in as well.

Dufresne Heinekens: 9 - Pansies (2006)

Only slightly less silly than Scott's Montoya record, though Dean has 4 so far this year.

Week 7 Recap

Markinson

No shakeup in the standings, with the top 5 staying put, but a definite compression.

In the upset of the season, formerly last place Drew topples top dog Dean by 3 points! Dean still maintains the perch, while the win moves Drew up to 6th. The league applauds you, Drew. It also applauds timely bye weeks.

Second place Russell also falls, by 9 points to Andrew. Andrew is 2 games back in 5th place, but really he is only 1.5 games back because of his overall points lead.

Third place Hubert closes the gap to just one game with a solid 29-point win over Nalu, sending Nalu to the basement.

Despite not playing McFadden, I grab my second straight Heineken in a nail-biting 3-point win over Jeremy, moving me a game back of the leaders in 4th place. Jeremy continues to have extraordinarily bad luck, with the second-highest season point total and only 2 wins to show for it in 7th place.

Montoya

The reigning champ may be turning things around. Andrew earns the Heineken in a 32-point victory over Lisa, just his second of the season.

Hubert also gets his second victory, by 30 over Scott. We knew these guys wouldn't stay down forever.

Dan took the Heineken lead on the final drive of MNF, only to see it disappear when that drive resulted in a TD against his defense. He still ends up with more than enough, putting a 65-point hurting on Jeremy. The win moves him up to 3rd, in position for his first ever Markinson bid. Jeremy remains in 2nd despite laying a massive egg.

I keep the top spot, but just barely, eeking out a 1.2-point win over Gina.

Dufresne

Dean scores his fourth Dufresne Heineken of the season in an 85-point drubbing of Eddy. The win keeps him in first and vaults him ahead of me by 5 for the Starling lead. With the addition of his two Markinson Heinekens, his total of 6 is threatening Scott's single season record 10 Heinekens in 2006.

Jason stays in 2nd place with a 52-point win over Drew. He also moves up to 3rd place in the Starling race, just 35 points back.

Russell leapfrogs into 3rd place with a 32-point win over Amer, keeping Amer stuck in 6th but still very much in the mix.

Steve falls to 4th after losing to Nalu by 10. Nalu remains in 5th but is now tied for 3rd in wins.

Week 6 Recap

I may be back from Bavaria, but I'm still double-fisting the beer.

Markinson

I snag the Heineken with a 20-point win over Andrew, who is stuck in 5th despite the league's top point total.

Dean remains in first with a comeback 4-point win over Hubert, and he can thank ESPN for it.

Russell keeps pace with a slim 1-point win over Nalu, who must be wondering what the hell happened to Miles Austin.

Drew pulls himself into a tie for 5th with a 7-point win over Jeremy.

Montoya

I retake 1st place and the Heineken with a 48-point win over Scott. Jer and I have split the 6 Heinekens thus far and have also earned 1 each in Markinson. We are also 1-2 in the Starling race.

Jer remains tied with me atop the standings after his 19-point win over Hubert, who is shockingly bringing up the rear with just 1 win. But he is still only 2 games back of 4th place, so hope is not all lost.

Same for Andrew, who also drops to 1-5 after his 25-point loss to Gina. Gina's win moves her into the top 4.

In a critical game for 3rd place, Lisa eeks out a 2-point victory over Dan.

Dufresne

In the battle for 1st, Dean retakes the lead with an 18-point win over Jason, also good for his 5th Heineken of the season (3rd in Dufresne).

Steve rides a 3-game winning streak into 3rd place, the latest a 13-point win over Russell, who drops to 4th.

Drew stays in the mix with an 8-point win over Amer.

Eddy avoids the bagel, notching his first win of the season by 24 over Nalu.

Week 5 Recap

By Hubert

As the NFL loses its last unbeaten team in Week 5 with the Chiefs (!) going down, so too do all 3 of our leagues each lose their last undefeated team.

Markinson

The top of the table clash featuring Dean and Russ had Dean going into Monday night needing a vintage LT performance to maintain his perfect record. While he looked good putting in a respectable performance, LT couldn't punch in a score, leaving Dean 7 pts short. The result puts them tied atop the standing at 4-1, with Dean holding a healthy 60 pt advantage in points scored.

I snap a 2 game losing streak with a 20 pt victory over Drew to move into sole possession of 3rd place at 3-2 despite being 6th in pts scored.

The pts leader is Andrew, who headlines a clump of 4 teams at 2-3 with a 24 pt win over Jeremy, who is next team in the group some 30 pts back.

The last two at 2-3 are Nalu and Chang by virtue of Nalu's Heineken performance, riding the strength of Forte, Ray Rice, and Miles Austin to a 130-76 victory.

Montoya

Jeremy took matters into his own hands in another top of the table clash, securing the Heineken and handing Chang his first loss. In the process, he leapfrogs Chang for the Starling lead by 10 pts with 652 total to also nudge ahead on pts with both teams at 4-1.

Lisa inches up a spot into 3rd place at 3-2 with a 26 pt victory over me. My freefall continues as I score the fewest pts by far again this week and remain entrenched in the basement at 1-4.

Dan also moves up a spot tied with Lisa at 3-2 with 123-112 victory over Andrew, who also joins me at 1-4, but with a healthy pts advantage. From top 2 to bottom 2, it's looking like a longshot for both of us to stay in Markinson.

Gina and Scott faced off this week, with Scott emerging the victor by 12 pts, leaving both teams at 2-3. Despite the monster NYJ D MNF performance, Gina would've come out just barely ahead if she had started Felix Jones instead of the gimped Pierre Thomas. Hope the Europe trip was worth it ;)

Dufresne

Needing just 5 pts from the Min D on a rainsoaked MNF contest to maintain his undefeated start, Jason falls short as Mark Sanchez inexplicably continues to look like a real NFL QB, yielding only 2 pts to Min to allow Amer to emerge victorious by 3 pts. With the win, Amer joins a crowded 5-way tie for 2nd at 3-2, but at the back of the pack on pts.

Given a chance to move back into a 1st place tie, Dean instead has to settle for leading the pack at 3-2 with a 40 pt defeat at the hands of Nalu. Having Peyton, Boldin, and Lance Moore in both Markinson and Dufresne certainly didn't make things easy for Dean. Nalu remains in the mix at 3-2 with the vicotry.

Russ keeps his hold on 3rd place with a 70 pt victory over Eddy, taking the Heineken along the way.

Steve maintains his position in 4th, surviving the onslaught of the NYJ D to squeak past Drew by 2 pts.

Week 4 Recap

By Hubert

With Chang frolicking in Europe, I'm pinch hitting for this week and probably next.

Markinson

Another solid week for Dean as he keeps his undefeated record and a 1 game lead with a 33 pt victory over Chang.

Russ continues a string of impressive performances since a week 1 stinker, beating Drew by 44 to move into sole possession of 2nd place at 3-1.

Jeremy also continues his solid run of scoring at least 115 pts each week by upping to 125 this time, beating me by 30, taking the Heineken, and moving to the top of the 3 team pack at 2-2 with myself and Chang.

Nalu secures his first Marksinson win over Andrew and just missing out on Heineken with a 125-106 win.

Montoya

Chang remains atop with a perfect 4-0 record with a comfortable 27 pt victory over Lisa.

Jeremy double fists the Heinken with the 142-110 victory over Scott, remaining just a game back and 10 pts behind Chang for 2nd place.

Dan moves into the 3 team group at 2-2 along with Gina and Lisa by beating Gina by 21.

In the battle of the basement, I reach a new low, scoring a total of 58 pts with only a single player in double digits while losing to Andrew to drop to last place, who picks up his first win of the season.

Dufresne

Jason keeps rolling, with a 31 pt victory over Nalu to remain unbeaten atop the standings.

Dean finally loses a game this season, dropping a 129-107 contest to Russ, who secures the week 4 Heineken. Despite the loss, Dean sits alone in 2nd at 3-1 and leads the Starling Cup by 9 pts.

Joining Russ in the pack at 2-2 are Steve and Amer after the closest contest of the week saw Steve pull out a 6 pt victory. The result looked far safer heading into MNF before Steve got 0 from Randy Moss and Amer piled up 48 pts from his Patriot quartet of Welker, Hernandez, Gostkowski, and D.

In the matchup of winless teams, Drew notches his first victory of the season, with an 87-67 win over Eddy.
